Programs at a Glance

FIRST LEGO League Explore

Students in FLL-E work as a team of 6-10 students in grades 1-3 to solve a real-world problem using LEGOs. They learn new design, coding, and presentation skills as they navigate the year’s STEM theme. FLL-E students participate in a showcase where they show off their design.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge

Students in FLL-C work in a small team to create a LEGO robot powered by LEGO SPIKE Prime that completes various missions around a playing field. They also participate in a research project around the year’s theme. FLL-C students participate in a competition where they are judged on their robot and project.

VEX IQ

Students in Middle School work in small teams to build a VEX IQ robot, either for fun or to compete. They develop higher level design and programming skills beyond FLL in preparation for Rodeo and Stampede. VEX IQ is geared towards students in grades 5-8.

Rodeo (MS)

Middle School students participating in Rodeo Robotics develop essential building skills, working with larger parts than in previous programs. They practice iterative design techniques, continually improving their robot design. Rodeo Robotics competes in the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) with teams from high schools around the world.

Rodeo (US)

Freshmen participating in Rodeo Robotics take on a leadership role in the team. They continue to build, program, and design, but also mentor Middle Schoolers, facilitate team discussions, and manage the project overall. Rodeo Robotics competes in the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) with teams from high schools around the world.

Stampede

Upper School students participating in Stampede build a highly competitive robot that they design from scratch each year. In addition, they mentor students from Rodeo Robotics and perform outreach in our community and beyond. Stampede competes in the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) with teams from high schools around the world.
